The truth is I never focused much on a skincare routine. That is, until my daughter was born with a genetic skin condition that makes her skin sensitive. At the same time, I realized that my own skin was beginning to show signs of stress. I decided it was time to get back to using products with more simple, pure, and wholesome ingredients. Influenced by my family’s use of Nigerian plant tinctures for general health and wellbeing, I began researching the role of indigenous ingredients in the African approach to wellness.
In addition to treating illnesses, many of the ingredients used for African traditional wellness have also been used by generations of locals for the nourishment of their skin. Inspired by the rituals and the popularity of these ancient ingredients, I began creating products for my own personal use and have adopted a skincare routine using these time-tested ingredients. The process and products keep me connected to my roots and have made my skin look healthier, which, in turn, makes me feel more confident in my own skin.
I am proud to bring to market my first product, Safi Revitalizing Skin Oil, with natural ingredients sourced from Rwanda.
